What is Adrenalin Control?
Adrenalin control is exactly what it says it is, but like most things much easier to do in theory than practise!
Where to start???? well to understand adrenalin you have to understand its effects i suppose. adrenalin is released from two small glands one on top of each kidney, its designed to help us when we are in danger from attack or indeed under attack. the release of adrenalin into your system causes you to be able to perform better under extreme stress (if understood and harnessed properly, this is something i try to teach probably more than anything) to explain this i will try and split this into good and bad effects, although this is for ease as its much more complicated than that, but once understood is a very powerful aid to any conflict situation.
IN BRIEF, VERY. LOL.
GOOD: INCREASED HEART RATE, this pumps blood to essential organs and the brain, DILATED PUPILS: so you can process as much information as possible as quickly as possible, STRONG ANAESTHETIC: obvious really if attack is a possiblitly.
BAD: DRY MOUTH, SHAKES, HIGH PITCHED VOICE, TEARS, FEELING OF WEAKNESS, BUTTERFLIES IN THE STOMACH.
The above is very very brief as really you need to explain each effect to fully understand it. the main reason we freeze in an adrenalin situation is lack of understanding of the effects we experience. this, especially these days as we rarely have to face any real conflict.
Example, roger road rage is driving along and gets cut up by some guy on the way home from work. so good old roger has burn out and starts shouting and swearing and challenging the guy to all sorts, gesticulating wildly about all sorts of nasty things he is going to do to the guy if he would just stop. so rogers adrenalin is going nuts round his body but not finding a release so its getting to fever point.
Now all of a sudden the guy thinks "fuck this" and stops and walks across to rogers car.....all of a sudden roger shits his fucking pants and is now very interested in tuning the radio after locking the door with his elbow! any drivers recognise this situation?
You see we never really have to face any real threats other than the tax bill or the electricity bill these days so the environmment of driving in rush hour, say, is very stressful and confrontational at times so we are suddenly exposed to "fight or flight". add the false security of being in a car and mild mannered roger becomes ROGER ROAD RAGE.
You see roger got "ADRENAL DUMP" the hardest to harness as its a huge release very quickly into your system, the guy that cut him up got slow release adrenalin giving him time to harness and control it. roger let it control him the other guy controlled it, bit more complicated than that but thats the jist of what im getting at.
The only real way to truly understand adrenalin and control it is to expose yourself to it as much as possible, something i have talked about a lot in class. you may have noticed? lol. thankfully or not i suppose im exposed to all sorts of adrenalin every night i work so it gives me a chance to control and experience it in all its forms for hours every week. ever seen mr big mouth that talks a good fight but when it comes down to it faslls apart? well thats another story and yes its a lot to do with adrenalin.
